Archeology and ancient Israel
Greetings Terribleone, and welcome!
First off, most of creation and the great flood of Noah have been soundly disproven by science, but that is a topic for another forum. You might want to direct your attention to This Recent Thread, where we had a long discussion about what modern archeology has (or has not) revealed. You should also take a peek at our recommended reading list, especially Archeology and the Bible and The Bible Unearthed. Some teasers: The patriarchs (Abraham and descendants) probably never existed, there was never a mass exodus from Egypt lead by Moses, nor a conquest of the promised land by his followers. The unified kingdom of David and Solomon probably never existed. Most of these stories were fabricated in the 7th century BCE within the southern kingdom of Judah, in an attempt to provide a theological and political justification for taking over the neighboring kingdom of Israel. |

Of course, I would also bet large amounts of money that she wouldn't understand the analogy that since we found a city named Los Angeles last time we were in California...therefore the television show Angel is true.
Any Angel or Buffy plugs are much appreciated: :notworthy :notworthy :notworthy :notworthy :notworthy He help the hopeless. Or was it helpless? At any rate, Angel's catchline would make a great plug for an anti Apologetic's ministry. Angels Apologetics. Helping the hopeless. |

Tell your friend to come over here and the good members of BC&H can tell her why Lee Strobel is wrong. In the meantime, shameless plug: Intro to Biblical Archaeology I, II, and III (not yet properly HTMLised).
