Anyway latkes aren't all that old as they are made from potatoes which came from the New World post-Columbus.
And for nations which have changed their culture over time, you can include the Indus-Saraswati valley. |

You will need to take this as a dim memory but I seem to recall that there was a report some time ago that the DNA [I presume] of a fossilised ancient Briton was found to be present in living persons in the same region.
Hopefully someone can recall the details more accurately. On a more personal note, I can see from where I am sitting the house of a friend of mine whose family have been living in this immediate area for at least 12,000 years. He is currently the custodian of the oldest archaeological dig in Australia, a site which includes petroglyphs dated as above and probably made by his ancestors. |
