One more. Let’s play Good El - Bad El:

Quote:

In his house El gave a feast of game, the produce of the hunt in the midst of his palace. He cried, 'To the carving, gods, eat, O gods, and drink! Drink wine until satiety, foaming wine until intoxication!' ... El summoned his drinking-companions; El took his seat in his feasting house. He drank wine to satiety, new wine until intoxication. El went off to his house; he stumbled off towards his dwelling; Thukamun and Shanim supported him.
Good el?

Or,

Bad El? :devil2:

From praxeus' source:
Quote:
How this incongruity came about is a mystery. It seems likely that el was originally an appellative, common to all gods, and that it came to represent one god over the course of time.
This seems a bit odd. The speculation would appear to be that the same thing happened to "el" that happened to Greek theos. But given that the oldest layers (e.g. some of the psalms) in the OT clearly represent El as the name of a particular god, in the Hebrew case the opposite process seems more likely.

okay what I read is this:

The tribes in the old ages worshipped different Gods. Or the names of their Gods were different. For example, their were the Tribe who's God was Izra, and another was Gabri, and another was Micha and so one. Apparantely, when these tribes went to war, the losing tribe will have to join the winning tribe and therefore follow their God. However, the God of the losing tribe would not die, but would become an Angel.... hence the use of the El...

So that was how Michael , Gabriel and all the other Angels came to be ... Where as there was one God that remained supreme who is El himself or Elah, or Allah or God or whatever name he has

Fat chance.

Psalm 89:6

Who in the skies can compare to Yahweh?

Who is like Yahweh among the sons of El?
Which god is God?

El or Yahweh?

Those of us that live in Spanish speaking countries would answer: "El Yahweh".

Alright! Alright! But it's all Boro Nut's fault!

The big question is what is a God. God is simply a cultivator. In Genesis, there is God (the creator) and Lord God (whom provides the commentary and assessments). God (the creator) is impersonal and is observed simply through the creation and the pattern of events which make up the world. God (the creator) cultivates life through Natural Selection.

Lord God is whom the Bible is mostly written about. Lord God contributed to the creation of life, and it would seem the heavenly court is a corporate entity that is referred to as El. The angels see themselves as the Sons of God and act as cultivators in our lives as God (the creator) does.

The third cultivator of life on the planet is humankind. Since the metaphorical Adam and Eve ate of the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil, humankind has been manufacturing an artificial environment based on our desires as well. We have domesticated the plants, and animals on the planet. The elites in society have also been focusing on the domestication of other people as well.

El is the heavenly court of Lord God or the Sons of God. As a part of the pattern of God (the creator) they see their actions as part of the pattern and therefore as extensions of God (the creator) even though they associate with God (the creator) as we do.
