Peter will have to hand his EAC badge back.

It is a simple ceremony. No fuss.

It is the rest of us who now have to change all our codewords and safe houses.

I hope Peter is happy and somebody should tell Steve Lock

In many ways, I feel a lot better about this turn in Peter's life than the idea that he would spend 3 hours a day playing video games because that's all there is.

Peter now seems to be calling himself a Catholic Naturalist - more here.

I'm not sure if this is the same as a Catholic Atheist (if there can be Jewish Atheists, or Humanistic Jews, why not Catholic Atheists?)

Peter writes 'No clever argument or inescapable syllogism brought me to this point, but rather the softening of my heart after so many years of refusing Christ to be able to say in truth, and with dreadful certainty, "I need you."'

In the words of that noted Epicurean philosopher - "Whatever gets you through the night . . . "

This is an honorable tradition. Thomas Hardy - God's Funeral - is an Anglican Example.

JW:
In an Irony that I think the author of "Mark" would really appreciate two of my four (four?) Moderators at ErrancyWiki, Justin Eiler, and now Peter Kirby, have converted to Christianity while they were Moderators at ErrancyWiki. I feel partially responsible as a favorite analogy of mine there is to compare Christian's imaginary friend Jesus with Jimmy Stewart's imaginary six foot white bunny rabbit friend Harvey in the classic movie of the same name. Now I realize that in the movie it turns out that Harvey was real. Doh!

I'm also concerned that this morning Amalek PMed me with "Mrhee, mrhee."

Thanks John Kesler for the link.

From Peter Kirby:
Quote:
The church is packed, and I arrive a couple minutes late, so I stand off against the wall in an aisle. Some of the refrains sung are to a slightly different tune, but for the large part it is familiar. Echoed and reverberating are the hymns and responses that have been said in that little parish since before I was born. And as I kneel during the eucharistic mystery, my knees feeling a slight sting as my lower legs tingle with some numbness, I realize, this is home. This is where I belong. This is the place to which I shall come to offer my praise, my love, and my allegiance to the God of the universe. And next to me, a sister in Christ smiles as we offer to each other, "Peace be with you." For I have found peace here. Debating whether I would on the way there, I decide to receive communion. The body of Christ. Amen. The bread of life I receive there offers no thrill or rush, but I feel satisfied that by this ritual I am being made whole. He says the word. I am healed.

The reading that day was from the 21st chapter of the Gospel of John. Sometimes known as the reinstitution of Peter, during this scene Peter, who had denied Christ three times, three times affirms that he loves Jesus. During the reading, I noticed not only that perhaps I am being called to serve the church, but I also noticed something else that I never paid attention to. Peter is out fishing with his friends, but when Jesus asks what he has caught, the reply is, 'nothing.' But when Jesus instructs Peter to throw the net over the right side of the boat, 153 large fish are the catch. Toil for the sake of toil is feckless, fishing without the command of Jesus is futile, but working with him at his command brings plenty.

To use a modern metaphor, I have been spinning my wheels for ten years. But on this rock of our faith, I can move forward, and move forward as a member of the one holy catholic and apostolic church. A week ago I said a short prayer. It was, "I need you." Tonight I pray, "thank you." Thank you for bringing me back in communion with the saints, your church. Thank you.

Some people just seem to think that they need to project their love and need for love into some spook.

Sad and pathetic, really.

Is the following Logo consistent with Christian beliefs?
JESUS IS FOR LOSERS?

Why was he playing computer games again? And why should this recent stunt be taken any seriously?
