'... the gospel of Peter also relates the story of the guard at the tomb, and its account may well be independent of Matthew, since the verbal similarities are practically nil' Who would have thought that the Gospel of Peter had some historic use, being independent attestation of the story of the guard on the tomb? Craig probably feels himself on unsure ground in that article. It is one of the ones where he suddenly feels the need to start speaking in German, with no translation for his intended , English-speaking readers. 'For the pre- Markan passion story arose in the life of the Urgemeinde before the Auseinandersetzung with Judaism and thus antedates the Jewish/ Christian polemics' So Craig is admitting that when the disciples went public, a mere 6 weeks after the alleged resurrection, there was no 'auseinandersetzung' with Judaism? No quarrelling and inspection of the stories? |

If you haven't already done so, I suggest that you read the gospel of Peter for yourself. It reads like poor quality fiction.

In this gospel there are men as tall as the heavens and the cross was buried in the tomb. Stuart Shepherd |
