I suggest that we just accept that Metacrock is not concerned with picky details like this, for whatever that means about seminary education.

I am interested in what Metacrock has to say about other things, like being in an alliance with fundamentalists who are good people but believe in strange things.

Essentially the is saying he knows their views are moronic but they are still "on his team". They are HIS morons because they share the Jesus stuff. I understand that. I really do. I mean if he were fighting fundies AND skeptics/atheist he wouldnt have many friends on boards would he?? Still though he has to realize that it is the fundies who oftentimes CAUSE people to be non-believers AND cause the more harsh atitudes towards christianity. If he is concerned about "souls" its the fundies who are takin' 'em.

Also I wonder how much truth it is to the ole "Fundamentalism is a product of the 19th century " theory. Did they not burn "witches" in the 1600s?? I think its pretty obvious that the OT and all of the Bible has always been taken literally by christians and its the LIBERAL view that is relatively new. I wish it were true (about fundamentalism) but I dont think it is. Show me where inerrancy wasnt the case earlier than the 19th century.

I don't know how nonliteral you're talking about, but St. Augustine argued that the days in Genesis weren't actual 24-hour days.
