I was talking with a friend on the phone tonight and he gave me a great lead to continue developing the theory that Jesus = yesh (Heb. 'substance'). Exodus 3:14 LXX:

καὶ εἶπεν ὁ θεὸς πρὸς Μωυσῆν ἐγώ εἰμι ὁ ὤν καὶ εἶπεν οὕτως ἐρεῖς τοῖς υἱοῖς Ισραηλ ὁ ὢν ἀπέσταλκέν με πρὸς ὑμᾶς

I don't believe that hayah can be translated as ὁ ὤν. The only Hebrew term that fits is yesh. Of course I am aware that the Hebrew text uses the Tetragrammaton here. But I wonder whether the Alexandrians were trying to say that this isn't god but his substance.

It is worth noting that this is the most important passage to Philo and Clement and the later Church Fathers think Jesus is present in the narrative.
