There is a religious group at my college that is non denominational and they meet once a week. The other day I was walking by their assembly hall just as a meeting was getting over with. The (mostly) females walking out were to say the least not supermodels. Not saying all were  but the proportion of attractive girls to non attractive girls was skewed highly in favor of the non attractive. I know this is only one incident (probably 80 girls) but it seems to hold true for churches I've been to and church youth groups I've seen. What does everyone else think? Have you noticed the same type of thing? Do you think it may be due to the unattractive girls' need for comfort because they are unattractive? Perhaps they are trying to find meaning in their unattractiveness (only talking physcal) like God testing them or something

Speaking as someone who damn well knows they are not attractive by societal standards, I find this kind of thing hurtful, and it's not like I can help it. I do the same thing, but it doesn't make me feel any better.
But to be honest, I at first felt as if Christians were more accepting of me-at least in campus groups. However-they are really no different. Once they get you in they are just as shallow as the rest. I find being an atheist a bit more bearable in matters of dealing with social settings cause the pretentiousness is gone when dealing with secular groups. Anyway, in regards to your observation of unattractive religious women-there are two Christian groups I used to be a part of on this campus-Intervarsity Christian Fellowship and Campus Crusade for Christ (Student Impact). I preferred IVCF because everytime I went to CCFC I was surrounded by tall, model thin girls and tall muscular pretty boys-it was like MTV! So maybe the "attractive" and "hot" Christian women were just at a different meeting. -MO |

You know, I know atheists who are quite unattractive physically. And I'm a Christian who is considered physically attractive. ![]() ![]() |

happen to have devout friends and their Youth for Christ groups have heaps of attractive girls. Maybe its my preference for asians though not sure. Of course, these groups often engae in illegal drugs when the parents aren't watching (on their YFC camps).

This looks nonsensical to me.
Beauty/attractiveness is in the eye of the beholder, after all - and I also met quite a few Christian hotties! |

"This dance ain't for everybody, just tha sexy people."
</Purple Rain quote> Really, this is one of the more nonsensical ideas I've seen in a while. However, when I compare the looks of anti-abortion protestors to the looks of the clinic defenders, it seems to be "Fuglies for Fetuses" versus "Hotties for Choice." RAWR, go us! |
