I didn't know that the Morning Star was a musician as well, awesome! One ticket to Hell please, non-smoking if you've got it.

It was however a genuine attempt to counter the OP. The OP suggested that the magic of music and love are gifts from god. I pointed out that I've knowingly rejected god, but continue to enjoy love and music - allegedly god's gifts. This makes us face one of a number of scenarios.

1. god doesn't know I've rejected him
2. god doesn't care I've rejected him
3. music and love aren't really gifts from god, therefore god has no authority over who can enjoy them
4. music and love aren't really gifts from god, because god doesn't exist.

The accepted consensus (if there is such a thing) on the nature of god as described my the majority of theists in the Abrahamic tradition contradict 1,2 and 3 (omnicience, desire for his creatures to enter a relationship with him, omnipotence) thus leading the opening poster to conclusion 4.

You were right though that I am not given to coal-raking.
There could be a fifth option: God exits and has given you these gifts so that one day you will use them to His glory. This seems to be more sensible than 1-4. Just my 2 cents.

Sorry that is the least sensible option of any that I have seen so far. You can have your 2 cents back, they're both counterfeit.

BTW, I found your latest typo to be quite hilarious:

God exits
You do realize that you could type your responses in a word processing program, spell check, then copy the text over?

A spell check wouldn't flag 'exits' as wrong though.

True, but it sure would help with a lot of HD's other creative spellings and grammatical flights of fancy. I couldn't let that particular slip (Freudian maybe?) go unmarked.

I do not always check my spelling. Call it lazyiness if you will. I know I am not the only one thank goodness but I take your above statement as a compliment as I am not afraid to forge new territory in grammer and spelling.

I pity those who have to use god to see beauty in the world. I can see and appreciate it fine without some supernatural assistance. [/B]
I agree wholeheartedly.

Why not, eh? All that would require is faith that you had interpreted my intent and meaning correctly. Since, for you, that particular uncertainty has not proven to be problematic in the past, why should it be problematic in the present?

Your position is becoming clearer word by word.

And what position would be that King Rat? Faith has never been an easy proposition for men and women. I will just take the chance of being right and if I am wrong than I will chose the lesser of the two evils.

I am a musician....I am an atheist. My music is the result of my hard work, my dedication, it is my creation. It is not a gift. I was not given the ability to create the music...I had to learn, to practice.

As for love, there was an interesting article in the May 2003 issue of Discover that addressed controlling biochemistry involved...reproduction is core to this emotion.
