Hello, Christians!
I'm here to debate you. It's about "Is Harry Potter promoting witchcraft?" Who's willing? |

I apologize for butting in on this thread, but I must speak my mind. I grew up going to a fundamentalist Baptist church, and in my day, the Satanic influence was Dungeons and Dragons, which I loved for its imagination-inspiration and Gygax's verbosity which made me reach for a dictionary many-a-time. Now, my niece goes to the same church, and the contemporary Instrument of The Devil (tm) is Harry Potter. And she's, of course, a fan of series. So, she, like me at the same age, is finding going back to church to be odious to her sensibilities.
So, I'm observing a multi-generational battle against ignorance and prejudice within my own familial community in regards to the local church being the main locus of socialization. |

This one is easy. Harry potter is a fictional character so he cannot be supporting witchcraft. You win I guess
![]() On a more serious note, do you think Star Trek promotes an interest in science? If you do then you must accept that the Harry Potter books also increases ones interests in witchcraft. I am not a Christian btw and I am yet to see any evidence that witchcraft is anything more than rituals. So as a matter of principle I don’t see it as something bad. |

Well, Harry never harmed. It did make me curious but I still love Harry Potter.
I must pick a better topic then unless fundies come in here. Star Trek only inspired me to do more sci fis. |
