In this thread, I want to explore other people's understanding of the Bible's description of the identity/nature of Jesus and includes a poll with four possible answers.

note: This thread is a discussion of what the Bible says. Any opinions concerning the Bible's accuracy about what is said is not relevent and will be considered off topic.

This thread explores the Bible's description of the identity/nature of Jesus. Whether or not someone believes he existed or not is not a part of the thread topic. I'm sure there are plenty of other threads that explore the existence/non-existence of Jesus but this thread is not one of them.

Thanks you, Poodle, for your response. My desire is for everyone to remain on topic in this thread. 'Fictional character' is not one of the four possible responses to the poll question. As the OP states, I'm looking to discuss the Bible's description of the identity/nature of Jesus. Commentary on the accuracy of the Bible and the existence/non-existence of Jesus should be taken elsewhere.

I think this topic might be better covered in BC&H.

That said, I think you need an option for "all of the above," as the Christian Bible is bent on selling Jesus as a man, the King of Men, God, some sort of bridge between man and God, and the Jewish Messiah all in one.

All discussions of accuracy aside, the Bible is a sales tool. It says whatever you want it to say, depending on how you interpret the passages. Most preachers use it to sell people on Jesus depending on which of your poll options they might choose.

What's this meant to achieve? Asking a predominantly non theist group what their interpretation of your fairy tale is.

The newtestament talks about the trinity. father, son, holy ghost.
i agree that the bible can be interperted in many ways. i've always interpreted it as God in the form of man experiencing human pain and desires and crap or the being more literal, the son of God. mortal but protected by god.
but im atheist so it doesnt matter and jesus is just a false prophet that lived long ago.

I'm not sure why the OP didn't list "fictional character" as an option. Since it's not and we assume he existed, then he would exclusively human.
