A little odd for a (primarily) lurker to be doing this, but nonetheless...

Brighid
pz (though most any the mods over there will do)
Peter Kirby
Apikorus
CX
WinAce
Jesse
Lobstrosity
HRG
bd-from-kg
Koyanis-something-or-other
diana
Jobar
Mageth
scigirl

Just a short-list of some of the posters who have had a small impact on my life whether it be because they forced me to exercise the encephalon evolution gave me, or because their words proved useful as a source for later plagiarization.

Chicken Girl, naturally.

My other fellow mods are pretty swell too, actually.

Haven't your parents sold you into marriage yet?

I thought it was all but a done deal.

My favorite non-theist is RufusAtticus for a multitude of reasons--but mostly because he's so dang sexy.

The atheists I most admire are those who have created and maintained this board, those who have made this a sanctuary for atheists needing intellectual and emotional support, those who have overcome great odds to seek knowledge and free thought, those who have been teachers, those who have been counselors, those who have made me laugh, those who have shared recipes for chocolate cake, those whom Ive met and shared food and drink and friendship, but mostly, those who have been a living example that atheists are good, moral and loving human beings.

To me GRDs superstar heretics are: Mageth, Biff the unclean, Godless Wonder, King Rat, Gothic_J, Silent Dave, Doctor X; and over in Philosophy and EoG, and among the Mods the scholarly, level headed, Peter Kirby.
Thanks for the nod TIT. Participation on this board has actually made me quite a bit more militant. I never used to get so involved in debates between theists and non-theists I always saw it as counter-productive and tedious. But, since hanging out here I've read some pretty hateful things stated by theists. Their comments have polarized me a lot more than I used to be.

Thanks for calling me TIT

The militancy point is something that I turn over in my mind very often - I ask myself: Am I really in fact a militant Atheist?

I think such strong feelings come from a sense of frustration at theism. Sometimes it's like encountering a bewildering stubbornness.

Anyway - back to the OP: Id like to add Oolon Colluphid from E/C as well as bd-from-kg and John Page from Philosophy (and EoG).

All demonstrate sound reasoning and grasp of complexity in a discussion and so are a pleasure to read.

But theres still loads more members/posters Im impressed by.

Oolon Colluphid and Jesse for knowing their science and being able to argue it so damn well, and QoS for cracking me up with every nutwatch.
