Default GDon brings up Acharya S again split from Incredible Shrinking Son of Man

He cites Trobisch favourably also.
He also cites Acharya S favorably, for what it's worth. Here is Price's review of Acharya S's "Suns of God":

The very learned Acharya S has spoken again. In a sequel to her wide-ranging The Christ Conspiracy, she has redoubled her efforts to show the solar - that is, the astro-theological - basis of all religions and mythologies, and to demonstrate that the great savior figures of the world's religions are late historicizations of the sacred sun myths. At the outset, let me make clear that I regard Acharya ("the Teacher," as she was dubbed by friends and students) as a colleague and fellow-laborer in the field of Christ-Myth scholarship. The issues over which she and I differ are secondary, though important and fascinating.
Price does go into points he disagrees with or thinks there is no real evidence for, but:
I hope that readers of my review will take these differences as signals of where more research is necessary on all our parts. I know Acharya has given me many new questions and much to think about. That was true of her first book and equally true of this one. I do not mind acknowledging her as my teacher as well.
In his review of another Acharys S book, "Christ in Egypt: The Horus-Jesus Connection", Price concludes:

I find myself in full agreement with Acharya S/D.M. Murdock: “we assert that Christianity constitutes Gnosticism historicized and Judaized, likewise representing a synthesis of Egyptian, Jewish and Greek religion and mythology, among others [including Buddhism, via King Asoka’s missionaries] from around the ‘known world’” (p. 278). “Christianity is largely the product of Egyptian religion being Judaized and historicized’ (p. 482).

There was an encouraging episode a few years ago where Robert M. Price gave a blunt and scathing review of one of Murdock's books, which I thought was great, because she really is a hack author who pedals a lot of shameless unmitigated bullshit, well above and beyond all other Jesus-minimalists in her league. Unfortunately, Price took down that review and put up a new review which basically expressed many of the same basic negative opinions in the most flattering language that is rhetorically possible. I almost had a little respect for him.

I split this off because GDon seems to have on obsession with Acharya S that not everyone shares.

Do we know what changed his mind?

Price never explained. We can only guess, and I certainly have my guess.

Speculating about others' motives is always a bad idea, especially when you have so little data.

Price wrote a snarky review of Acharya S, revealing her real name. She contacted him and evidently convinced him he was being unfair, and he wrote a different review.

Thread from the archives just like this one

Why does GDon keep repeating this?

Is there a point to this thread? Shall I close this and move it to E?

It is too embarrassing for Price. I think you had better move it to E.
