Ancient History does not require a stated belief - one way or the other - in support or otherwise of any notion of theism and/or atheism. You should know that stonewall1012.

Whatever happened back then actually happened. If we could travel faster than light and race the light sphere which emmanated from earth in the fourth century, and then overtake it and look back into history, then we would see whatever is the historical truth.

I'd really like to know what actually happened when christianity came out of the closet in the fourth century -- simply because I am exceedingly curious for historical truth.

Best wishes,

Pete
I agree that it doesn't require certain beliefs. Yes I do know that. And yes I agree that it actually happened. We can't go back in time I agree it would be great if we could.

I agree with you that our perspective "taints" our view of history. I am even willing to admit that my beliefs about the universe and life affect the way I assess evidence. I freely admit it and understand that others are STILL CAPABLE of REASON even if they do not agree with my assessment.

However, if we do not dialogue with those with whom we disagree all we are left with is violence.

I would prefer dialogue here than shooting and death outside.

This is NOT my assertion.
As an example of this specific assertion being examined stonewall1012 have a cuppa and check out Richard's Carrier's articles entitled:

1) Did Jesus Exist? Earl Doherty and the Argument to Ahistoricity (2002)

and

2) Proving a Negative (1999)

Or peace. (Doesn't this depend on how you see/feel/experience the world?)
