For the rest, I must say, I don't understand your objection. Jesus threatens whole cities (,and no Lot to plead for the righteous ones there,) with brimstone and fire (and worse), for their non-compliance with his demand for repentance. It is written up by unknown gospellers and offered as word of God. The implication clearly is that if you don't believe their story (and do not confess Jesus Christ as your Saviour) you will burn in hell on judgment day like the cities that did not yield to their Saviour. No other reasonable inference can be made, if you read this as a non-Christian. Is there something of substance I am missing ? Jiri |

The words of Jesus Christ are actually the words of the unknown authors. These unauthenticated authors appear to be 'fronting' for some higher authority, they subliminally propagate their threats of hellfire and damnation through a fictitious but believable figure of Jesus Christ. These cunning authors have set for themselves three, supposedly impenetrable, walls of defense to cover their fictitious stories. The first defence, the Spirit. Mark 3:29, 'But he that shall blaspheme against the Holy Ghost hath never forgiveness, but is in danger of eternal damnation. The second defense, The flesh. 2 John 1:7, 'For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This a deceiver and a anti-christ The third defense, The word.Luke 4:4, 'And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God. The unknown authors of the NT have pulled off the incredible. They have managed to develop a religion based on fiction that cannot be challenged. Any challenge results in spiritual death. Now we have the true meaning of the Trinity |

- Oral has healed the sick. - Oral has raised the dead. - Oral has made true prophecies about the future. - Oral communicates directly with God. - Oral saw a 90-foot Jesus. That should be enough information right there for you to confidently tell your fundy friend that this character Oral Roberts is fictitious, right? Quote:
We know that John the Baptist lived despite not knowing when he was born. If you based your judgement solely on the legendary tale in Luke then you would have to conclude that he was a mythic character. |

The compilers of the NT have publish material that is totally fictious under the guise of 'truth'. The publishing of the document called the NT was a deliberate act, it was not coincidental. The compilers of the book tried to portray a person named Jesus Christ as a Son of God that was actually born and lived, as a real human being. All the authors are anonymous, we cannot ascertain their credibilty, or their souces. The authors are not known to have written any other literary works. The authors have contradicted themselves in both chronolgy and the magnitude of events. The authors appear to have copied from one another. The story of Jesus Christ is similar to other stories prevalent at that time. The story of Jesus Christ was characterised as fiction as early the 2nd century by Celsus. Jesus Christ's method of healing and raising of the dead was already known to be improbable by the medical fraternity of the day. Hippocrates, as early as the 400 BCE, claimed that no sickness is a result of divine intervention, likewise the cure. So, the compilers of the NT already knew in advance of publication that the information is more than likely to be false, yet the NT was published. The authors appear to be cowards, they have refused to put their names. The NT is an unconscionable act. Jesus Christ is fiction. |

And by the way, you seem to know about the historicity of John the Baptist, I wish you could have said the same about Jesus Christ, the fictitious one. |

Can you tell me when Pilate died? Are you suggesting that if there is false information about someone that that in and of itself is reason to conclude that this person is fictitious and never existed?

Jake, remember that he's talking here to the disciples, telling them not to worry about getting hassled by the authorities. It's somewhat in the vein of a sargeant-major's pep talk to the troops: "listen, ladies, get out there and do the job. Don't worry about the enemy, worry about me."
