So much for another strong opinion which ends up with a question mark (?).

Does 1 Peter say anything about a cross or a crucifixion?

Where?

It says someone hung his dead body on a tree.

Right?

No. It’s not just tree v. cross. It’s also, “Who killed Jesus? Jews or Romans?”

The tree version follows the Jews, but the cross version follows the Romans.

In the ‘cross’ version Jesus talks and dies on the cross.

But in the ‘tree’ version Jesus is already dead when they put him on the tree. See Acts 5:30.

-------------

For me the big question is, how did we end up with two execution stories?

The ‘tree’ includes the element of irony – I think that’s important. It’s a clue.
