Let' try to keep this thread from becoming a back-and-forth kind of thing. Heathen Dawn stated his reasons for conversion. I found him to be very clear why he converted and not diluted. He made a informed decision on his choice of faith. As an atheist I can not ask more of someone. The problem with most religion is that the sheeple don't even research there own religion they just take what they are told as fact without question. Any other converts out there?

I'm not sure I fit your definition either. My parents started out as weak theists but never really taught me religious belief. My only memories of theistic church before the age of five (after that we stopped going) was that it was long and boring, and that the treats they had weren't very good.

I'd guess I was a de facto atheist for ages 0-11. I didn't believe in any Gods and I didn't understand the ideas of religion or deities. From ages 11-13, when my parents attended a Unitarian Universalist church, I became a "knowing" atheist. At age 13 I became a born-again Christian after reading a Christian tract intending to make fun of it. By age 26 I couldn't stomach the evils of Christian theology any more but I still experienced the Divine, so I dropped being Christian and sought a new religion. I am now a Pagan theist.

Maybe that fits, maybe it doesn't. You decide. Civility, however, in all replies and questions is appreciated and will guarantee a response in kind from me.

Yeah, he really is, but he's probably the best and most extreme public example.

I mean, Flew doesn't even really count, and I can't think of anyone else who's had their fifteen minutes, or even less.

I fully agree. Flew didn’t convert. He merely changed his stance on a minor issue—the origin of the genetic code. He’s come to believe in a useless god that doesn’t change his practical life or thought patterns one little bit.
