Wired magazine did a cover story this month on the Creation/Evolution 'controversy' entitled "The Crusade Against Evolution". The cover has a much more attention-getting title. Hopefully the more people know how little science is behind creation science the less controversial this issue will be.
On a related note, I've been trying to come up with a way to argue against 'teaching the controversy' using another discipline. What I'd like to flesh out relates to "Probability & Statistics" vs. "Astrology". If there are any statisticians in the house, perhaps we could develop an analogy along the lines of, "We need to put stickers in Stat. books..." and, "Although number theory teaches (such and such), another 'theory' proposes that if you were born under virgo, you are much more likely to..." Is there an alternative to Astrology that would work better? |
