Momigliano is often regarded as the leading twentieth century
ancient historian and as such is probably in the best position
to be able to afford a different perspective on ancient history.

This is not in dispute. Neither is his proclivity for making
meaningless comments in his own professional field.

Momigliano is saying something very important to his students.
What is it? As I do not understand German I am presently at
a disadvantage on this (IMO) very important issue.
