I just accept that it is unlikely that after all these years this is not the first time I have been here, its far less complicated than the other explanations, do you agree? To get involved in the "how" does not stop it or prevent it from happening.

Nah! I want to have at least some beginning of an idea of how it happens before I could have some beginning of acceptance that it is possible. Otherwise it's just another form of belief without any evidence.

If someone can have a memory from another life, another consciousness, then at some point something has to create the synaptic connections and neural pathways that encode for that memory.

No, I don't agree. What is this "I" that has been here before?

“No, I don't agree. What is this "I" that has been here before??

My guess is the same “I? you’d have now if somehow all your memory was erased.

I agree. I've explored this issue on a personal basis.

Doesn't that makes a personal life after 'death' in a block universe completely irrelevent to us? as we will still only know and experience this one life.

The answer is that if we are here now we have been before and will come again, this how and why stuff does not make any change to this. The wise would not want this way of thinking as it would be only to easy to take our own life in troubled times and start all over again. But this can be looked in another way, if you were to come back, you might come into the world in a very unhappy situation. So to live you life in order to make the world a better place to live would reduce the chances of that unhappy situation, but in doing so, the taking of ones life would also be reduced (its another looped argument but its not a bad one like sinning)
