Default Killed for Refusing to Convert to Islam

http://news.telegraph.co.uk/news/mai...05/nshot05.xml

This from "The Religion of Peace."

"Adrian was told on the Sunday prior to his death that he would be killed if he did not become a Muslim by the Wednesday, which was the day he died."

it read like something out of the national enquirer.

i'd have to question the authenticity of that story....

Obviously they weren't 'true' muslims, right?

Yep, Islam IS a religion of peace.....as long as you disqualify huge portions of believers via the 'true muslim' technique.

I'm not sure if the No True Scotsman fallacy is that strong here.

We are talking about street gang scum. I wouldn't judge a religion on its worst blemishes.

That said, Islam has dragged it's name through the dirt often enough in other areas... Sharia, anyone?

Reading the article it sounds more like they were attempting to force him to switch allegiance to their gang, The Muslim Boys, than attempting to force an actual religious conversion.

It comes across as believable as an attempt at forced conversion, since muslims have been known to do that in the past. I'm not picking on muslims specifically here of course. Christians have been known to impel conversions by force as well.

This just seems more like a street-gang-thug thing than a real live forced conversion attempt, at least to me.

One gets the impression, reading the Koran, that it is the basis of the whole religion that others must convert to Islam or die. That's the impression I got reading it, if one takes the book literally.

It is only for believers.

Surah 2

2:2 – This is the book; It is guidance sure, without doubt, To those who fear Allah

2:6 – As to those who reject faith. It is the same to them whether thou warn them or do not warn them; they will not believe.

2:7 – Allah hath set a seal on their hearts and on their hearing. And on their eyes is a veil

2:8 – Of the people there are some who say “We believe in Allah and the last day? but they do not really believe

2:9 - …But they only deceive themselves and realize it not!

2:10 – In their hearts is a disease; and Allah has increased their disease

2:14 – When they meet those who believe they say “We believe?; but when they are alone with their evil ones they say “We are really with you. We were only jesting?

2:18 - Deaf, dumb and blind they will not return (to the path).

2:21 – Worship your Guardian Lord

2:23 – And if ye are in doubt as to what we have revealed from time to time to our servant then produce a surah like thereunto.

2:24 – But if ye cannot – and of a surety ye cannot – then fear the fire whose fuel is men and stones, which is prepared for those who reject faith.

Its cheering stuff. Allah has decided that those who reject faith will not return to faith. To my mind that alone invalidates it as the work of an intelligent and caring force.

Default This is getting a bit OT, but...

So God is the one who closed off their perception, but he's still going to punish them for rejecting faith? Great.

I suppose you could argue that they rejected faith first, and then God "set a seal on their hearts," making it less likely that they would be persuaded back to faith. But that still doesn't seem right.

"Adrian was told on the Sunday prior to his death that he would be killed if he did not become a Muslim by the Wednesday, which was the day he died."
That's what his mommy said. But, according to the article, there was no evidence:

Quote:

Mr Marriott, an accountancy student and gang member, was killed in a park near his home in Brixton, south London, in June 2004.

Three members of a rival gang, known as the Muslim Boys, were cleared in September last year of conspiracy to murder Mr Marriott after the prosecution offered no evidence at the Old Bailey.
So, from an unconfirmed, self-serving statement by the mother of a dead gang member, reported in a right-wing tabloid newspaper, you are going to generalize about a billion people. Nice.

Islam is the religion of peace. They'll never come near Christianity's body count.
