I was a really big believer in "women's lib" when I was a kid, not because I wanted to undo the injustices of the past, but because one of its tenets seemed to be women's sexual liberation. By my reckoning, this should have improved my personal chances of getting laid. However, it did no such thing. It turned out that most girls/women didn't want to have sex with a man, they wanted to have sex with the man -- that one guy in 10, or one guy in 100, who had all the ladies drooling over him. The other 90-99 percent of us guys are no better off now that women are "sexually liberated" than we were before.

It didn't help anything that I was raised so that a huge amount of my sense of self-worth was tied up in whether or not I had a girlfriend.

The gods are really just a "more evolved" species than us. The beneficial aspects of sexual pleasure are obvious. Horny creatures will produce more offspring. It's natural selection at work.

As for - why do gods like to fuck mortal women?

Well, fucking mortals creates half-god heroes. And we know how much the Greek gods liked to fuck with heroes. Even more than they liked fucking with normal people.

Then there's the fact that most of these gods didn't have wives. But not Zeus. And Zeus's wife was his sister! And I don't think he liked her very much, since he did the most fucking of all the gods.

Which brings me to the point that mortal women die very soon compared to a god. So, they won't be around for too long, so the wife probably won't find out about the indiscretions. Imagine if Zeus was cheating with Aphrodite. Wouldn't that be awkward if Hera found out? Aphrodite and Hera would hate each other forever. But if Zeus cheats with a mortal, that woman will die in a few years anyway!
