What Is Bipolar Disorder?
Bipolar disorder, formerly called manic-depressive illness, is a condition that affects more than two million Americans. People who have this illness tend to experience extreme mood swings, along with other specific symptoms and behaviors. These mood swings or "episodes" can take three forms: manic episodes, depressive episodes, or "mixed" episodes. See : http://abilify.com/abilify/channels/...&referrer=null |

I reckon that's part of the key there, emotion. Humans operate not by reason alone, but also by emotion. It feels wrong to change, but that doesn't necesarily mean that it is wrong to change.

As someone mentioned earlier, he sorta sounded like a "fundie trolling the boards", and couple hours later BAM! It is revealed to him that he may be wrong after all....could be I guess... Or maybe he's having a good laugh...or his kid sister logged in with his user account:devil1: To be fair, I hope he is on the level and I look forward to futher post regarding his possible deconversion |

Not really all that sudden, only the point-blank forthright announcement, if you you have been closely following his threads you can see his increasing misgivings about the Bible,
see the thread "I Am Doubting The Virgin Birth - Why Don't Other Christians?" As to the observation that "He played this same game last year..." Have you or a loved one ever tried to break free of a deeply ingrained habit? only to slide back? As many times as Half-Life, (or anyone else) tries to break free of those chains that have enslaved his mind and life, we ought to be there, ready and willing to help him in whatever way we can. |

Moderator Note: it is a rules violation to accuse another of a mental disorder.

Sheshbazzar, I do see your point, I understand about trying to make a change and backsliding to the security of the old routine.
As I mentioned, I've only been around here for a few days and have not read closely all the previous post by H-L so I should really take this one on face value. Could be an interesting transformation...... Regards. |

Don't worry about that poster. He called my threads bipolar, not me specifically. however, I can see where the poster would think so. I have been having doubts about Christianity for a while now. There was just "something" making me cling to the bible. However, this "feeling" seems to be going away as each hour passes. |

Hmmm....on another board I was having a discussion with a deist. I told him that a deist was an agnostic who refused to let go with the other hand. Keep critically evaluating the myths you have been sold and you'll eventually let go as well. Once the doubt creeps in it is hard to suppress. |

I must admit, Half-Life, your adamant and illogical posts supporting Christianity (or what was your version of it) and now your quick deconversion are...puzzling. If now you are free, congratulations. I am rather surprised it was so quick, however, and so quick deconversions where no doubt before is a sign of illogical thought processes. But if you've been harboring these thoughts for a while, then perhaps you've now come to see the light.
I do want to warn you to, unlike some other posters, to not let this new found deconversion warp your thinking. Stick with critical thinking in all parts of your life, and make sure that each step is logically sound. And please don't become an angry atheist. Always keep in mind that you were a Christian once. And that Christians...they're human, too. |
