How do each of you view the 'Trinity' ?
Just wondered. How do each of you view the 'Trinity' I talk to a lot of other Christians, and some believe 'God' is one God, with three aspects - father, son and holy spirit, and some believe 'God' is one, but three seperate beings. I wonder could everyone choose from my list of possibilities below, which are all the possibilities of belief I have encountered. a) God is one God, with three aspects - Jesus having gone back to one being with the father and the holy spirit. b) God is one God, with three aspects - but Jesus literally sits at God's right hand as a seperate being. c) God is one God, with three seperate beings - father, son and holy spirit each having a seperate existence. A triune God. Any responses would be great. Its interesting how those of the same faith can have such various understandings. Love to hear where you all fall in this. I have a Squircle...it is a square circle and it was built using a method called biangulatronication.
Making up words like "triune" and "trinity" to describe three beings as one being is just as nonsensical, in my view. Note: This doesn't make it a religious "mystery"...it makes it illogical. |

Further proof that a Christians claim that their belief is rational to be false. It also shows that there are no limits that a Christian would go through to preserve their dogma. A lot of Christian love to claim that if errors are pointed out in their beliefs that they would change it. The doctrine of the trinity shows this to be an empty assertion. If they can accept that one god is the same as three gods then they can accept anything.
This shows the worthlessness of theology. If a theology claims to show that 1=3 what use is it? |

I see it as a failed attempt to integrate monotheism and polytheism. Convenient way to compartmentalize incompatible traits (Yahweh the murderous bully vs. Jesus the healer), but dishonest.

The "trinity" is the Christian duct tape that tries to hold broken monotheism together.
