@ Godless Wonder:
hmm... good point. some of the points that you raised would also fall under infringement of rights. but what my previous post did not cover was the psychological/emotional trauma inflicted by believers to everybody else as you have so pointed out. @Chili ah yes. now we start with the allah bashing. i really love the "my god can beat up your god" mentality employed by the faithful. of course this line of thought is not exactly helpful since if you at least try to see the world through the belief system of Islam you probably would be saying the same thing about the Judeo-Christian conception of God. of course you can always appeal to the truth of your god according to the framework of your belief system (of course other theists can also do this), but this discussion is probably best reserved for the EoG sub-forum. if only believers tried to honestly look at life from a different perspective (i.e. other theistic or even through a non-theistic perspective) then maybe there would be less intolerance and discrimination. pardon the emotionally-charged statements. i need my coffee. |

--Thankfully, some of us do. I too am a worshipper of the Goddess Caffeina, by the way. Coffee is God. Decaf is the anti-Christ. Any questions?

@ Pseudointellectual Allah bashing? Who is Allah bashing? You're the one who was complaining about 9/11 and I told just you why it happened. |

Religion is all in the head.
So if you think the world is proof of God then it is proof. to the non-religious it is simply belief. |

---On a more serious note, I think I understand what you are inferring. Since the gods/goddesses are the creations of our individual minds, when those minds are mature enough to start asking questions for which natural world material answers are not readily available, the gods/goddesses are manifest representatives in all that our limited knowledge and senses do not comprehend (Gods of the Gaps)...and that's all the "proof" that some individuals will ever want/desire or need. If that is your thought, I agree...but one might wonder why their arms don't get tired. However, they do tend to make cheap airconditioners. I once considered cornering the "fan" market by getting an advanced degree in religious studies. I liked the Jaguar that TV's "Equalizer" drove and wondered how I could get one quickly...tax free. Maybe a BINGO concession would be quicker.)

To the non-religious it is simply a foolish belief but once your mind has been fornicated it is impossible to get your virginity back. Is that English? |
