More Power to them!!
Let em try. Of course the South ALSO sought a peaceful secession...didn't work.

As to their Points of contention:
Quote:
Abortion continues against the wishes of many states
How many is "many"?
Quote:
Children may not pray in our schools
Of course they may...they just can't be FORCED to.
Quote:
The Bible is not welcome in schools except under strict federal guidelines
Anyone can take a bible to school, what the heck are they talking about?
Quote:
The 10 Commandments remain banned from public display
Bullocks, churches and private homes and businesses can display them on their lawns to their hearts content.
Quote:
Sodomy is now legal and celebrated as 'diversity' rather than perversion
Oh my, the horrors!! The US actually now PRACTICES freedom of religion rather than just espousing it.
Quote:
Preaching Christianity will soon be outlawed as 'hate speech'
Insofar as Christianity includes hate speech..... possibly, but I'm not sure about outlawing any speech as it flows against the 1st amendment.
Quote:
Gay marriage will be foisted upon us in the very near future
As if you will be forced to marry someone of the same sex? What the hell is meant here?

Technically I would say they are right, as long as they are using the word "public" to mean government. Though I am not in favor of it.

During the whole recent debate over that Judge in the South puting up the 10 Commandments, I thought it would have been hilarious if the 9th Circuit court in would have put up a large golden Buhda on their lawn. It would have been comical to watch the fundies cry foul.

Well then technically they are wrong, because that is not what public means.... if they mean displayed by the government they can damn well say it. The word public by itself does in fact include church, private and business areas that are accessable or visible to anyone, especially church property wherein they claim to welcome all.

They're just emulating "fearless leader" with his go in and get Sadaam, worry about the aftermath later "strategery".

Regarding the 10 Commandments crizap: Absolutely. I guess the fundies just don't REALLY get what exactly is meant by SEPARATION OF CHURCH AND STATE. I can't think of many things more churchy than the 10 crapmandments and I can't think of many things more state-y than a fucking court. HELLO! :banghead:

Also, the thing about "gay marriage" being "foisted upon us" also cracked me up. What the...? So everyone w/in a heterosexual union will have to divorce their current spouse and will have a same-sex spouse chosen for them? Man, they could have at least found someone who is actually well-spoken to write this thing. And how about that part about the government using force? Is this dude saying if the gov't uses military force, a cecession will not be possible? Or a PEACEFUL cecession will not be possible? What are they gonna take up arms? Damn, this article is STILL amusing me!

South Carolina already seceded 140 years ago... it has just been illegally occupied ever since then.

While I found that site both funny and disturbing, note that, if the fundies get what they really want and manage to turn the U.S. into the "Christian nation" (theocracy) that so many of them desire, with morals dictated by the Christian majority, with our children being led in prayer before every class, with the Bible as the science textbook, with the Ten Commandments in every courtroom, school room, and government office, with women forced to have unwanted babies or seek clandestine, dangerous back-alley abortions, with gays/lesbians being forced back into "the closet", etc., I'd be willing to consider moving to Oregon or somewhere and seceding as an independent, secular nation.
