Oh. Wait. Wrong guy.
Once upon a time, I made my parents sweat by asking why we'd be good just for goodness's sake when we knew Santa was watching us at every corner and would reward us for being good.

It's like walking into a bank, pulling out a gun and saying "I'm a poor person. I'm hungry, desperate and I have a weapon pointed at you. So why don't you hand over a large donation purely out of the goodness of your heart?"

I just watched the Passion of the Christ, and one particular scene that touched me was Mary as she cried in silent agony and suffering at seeing her son tortured and killed.

I can relate to her, but anyways, the point is.

Jesus was reputed to be sinless, which is why he can die for all our sins. However:

Under an Asian point of view, parents, especially respect to parents, and well...the term in Chinese is shiao4 suin4, it's like loyalty, love, respect toward parents is deemed extremely important. To make your parent suffer and worry endlessly is a great sin.

A model, perfect child, never causes his or her parents worry, but obeys them completely.

Jesus, by getting himself tortured and crucified, has made his mother suffer, and under Asian beliefs, his sin is great. He is not perfect.

So, for my parents, because Jesus isn't perfect, and such a terrible son, they don't deem him to be the son of God.

Interesting, that, isn't it?

I was wondering if you would be interested in discussing this. The key issue with moral claims is that they mean different things to different people. You embrace an ideology that asserts that an innocent that suffers at the expense of the guilty is:

1) Necessary
2) Acceptable

Many people do not align themselves to this style of thinking and I wondered if you are able to counter the issue of moral values, which is not something axiomatic in nature.
