The story behind the Movie is, that Spirit actually run over Martian observation post, and damaged part of it badly.
The Martian apparently did not know if he should engage rover, and his spinning head got caught by Spirit camera twice.
He decided or was ordered to do nothing, and Spirit moved on to the shining horizons...
The Martian wears fur coat, and apparently some sort of gogles.
When he makes his turn, you see change in the way his neck is touched by coat.
So, in spite of different perspective in the frames one can be sure, that it is not illusion but a real change.
That's my story and I am sticking to it :boohoo:

The source is actual pictures, taken by the rover.

For more such Martian pareidolia, go to Richard Hoagland's site. And for a more skeptical view, go to The Bad Astronomer on Richard Hoagland.

Why is the Martian wearing a fur coat?

So, what you're saying is, from these two frames- which look to me to be pictures of the same object taken at slightly different angles, and different times of the Martian day, judging by the changing light:

you came up with the following:

This is an extraordinarily detailed description of events, yet you claim to have seen all this in just two frames?

I don't see any "observation post"- just a bunch of rocks. I don't see any "Martian"- just a big lump of rock on which the light at that time of day made it loosely resemble a gorilla wearing a Storm-Trooper's helmet, on all-fours. Of course, this is just assuming the frames haven't been doctored in any way...

The thing is, ExtraSense, the "story" I, and I suspect most of us here, see in those two frames, is this:

Spirit took a couple of frames of a couple of somewhat interestingly shaped rocks, and "moved on to the shining horizons". End of story.

Until you, or anyone else, can provide credible evidence to the contrary, I will continue to think that you are simply "seeing" something that just ain't there.

The two frames of the movie have been cut from the large original pictures,
and serve mainly to compare the Martian's images.

Had you ever read that CIA uses image analysts to interpret sattelite imagery?

Ok, I'm with you so far...

But you've lost me here. Mainly to compare the rock-which-very-loosely-resembles-a-gorilla-Storm-Trooper with what?

Of course I've heard of the CIA satellite image analysts- such as the analysts who saw a few rail-cars(or was it shipping containers on trucks?) in Iraq and interpreted it to mean the Iraqis had chemical and/or biological weapons...

Analysts, like the rest of us, can be very, very wrong at times.

You still haven't shown any credible evidence to back up your extraordinary claims, ExtraSense. All you've done is provide two rather dodgy-looking frames supposedly cut from footage shot by the Spirit rover, and made repeated, unsubstantiated, incredible assertions. We need more than that if we are to take these claims seriously.
