My girlfriend and myself were watching "Haunting in Connecticut" last night on the Discovery Channel. It chronicled a family who lived in an apparently possessed house. (Claimed to be based on a true story). Before they could have the house exorcised, it had to be sanctioned by Catholic Church- who in turn called upon "paranormal investigators," to document the paranormal activity. If the house were proven possessed, the church would then sanction an exorcising. The researchers arrived with video cameras, audio recorders, heat detectors and the rest in paranormal research equipment. They documented the houses every activity- yet to no surprise -came up empty handed. (The show never stated directly the researches came up empty, however I assumed this since they never did show any footage.) The exorcising was later sanctioned despite this fact based on the testimony of the lead researcher who apparently saw the evil with his own two eyes. Typical, I remember thinking.
My question to you is; has there ever in the history of video documentation, been any filmed footage of paranormal activity? Has there ever been any compelling video footage of a ghost, demon, providence or fairy proven to be valid? Is there any unfeigned footage that may even suggest the existence of the supernatural? Or are we just left to believe the testimony of the people who think they may have saw this or that? Thanks. |

Why would we expect ghosts/spirits/demons to reflect photons in order to be photographed or videotaped? Presumably, these things are not made of matter.

One of the problems with the DC shows, etc. is that in some (depending on producer) they use a kind of argument from ignorance and associate any anomaly with spirits. Tweaky electric field, must be spirits, odd temperature variation, must be spirits. Even though they don't often outrightly say this, they word it to give that impression to uncritical viewers. [And if we did find evidence for some etherial 'energy being' or somesuch, why would we assume it to be a ghost??? What is more likely: that they would be a completely unrelated type of life that evolved in a totally different medium, or that a human, after dying would somehow be converted into a totally different kind of life? Occam's razor strongly favors the first] |

I have been fascinated with the paranormal since I was a child and have yet to be compelled by any case or "evidence".
