Hey, it only takes a Constitutional ammendment. And if he can get elected with no track-record whatsoever, imagine how strong his ammendment campaign would be if he actually appeared to do good in California.

Why would you be surprised? The reformation passed Austria by, so they're almost all catholic. I sincerely doubt Mr. Schwarzenegger is a dedicated churchgoer (after all, he didn't say "my gym" when asked for his church, now, did he?), and his views on abortion and gay marriage seem very sensible from my POV (and certainly not very catholic). I would even think that his opposition to "partial-birth-abortion" comes from misinformation.

A Contitutional ammendment is a rather big only. It requires a two-thirds majority of both houses of Congress to pass an ammendment and two-thirds of the state legislatures have to ratify it. That's why there have only been 26 ammendments and 10 of those were ratified at the same time as the original Constitution. Arnold would have to be the best governor in the history of the entire United States to get anywhere near this kind of support. Certainly, no Democrat would support a Constitutional ammendment which could allow a popular Republican into the White House.

Dargo:

I know. I was being goofy.

But in a world where people now get elected into positions of extreme importance in times of crisis with no credentials whatsoever... well, it's a bit disconcerting to say the least.

Geez, I thought it might have something to do with the fact that he married into the Kennedy clan (good ol' Irish Catholics).

That's why I felt a bit surprised Enai, because of some of his views seeming to not be very catholic.

Well, it seems that since Arnold was elected, California has burst into flames.

Interesting coincidence...

I know a lot of catholic people, and I don't have the impression that any of them let the official dogma get in the way of their own free inquiry. I guess that makes all of them excommunicable, but they don't seem to mind. Mr. Schwarzenegger obviously has other things on his mind than strictly following some religious rules, just like the people I know.

You have to do something really awful these days to get excommunicated. Were talking ultimate evil like trying to ordane a woman as a priest.

If someone can actually prove that it isn't a coincidence, I'd like to buy that person a few pints of beer!
