I completely agree that spin has acquired something of a reputation here as a "guru of linguistics" but only because he has demonstrated a level of general knowledge on the subject (with an apparent specific "speciality" focusing on the DSS) that is beyond most posters. We've got at least a couple of other posters who might qualify as "guru of biblical Greek". That doesn't mean they never get challenged and it doesn't mean they are never wrong. It just means that any challenger really should know her stuff beforehand and be ready to defend her claims with a similar level of familiarity.

The silly comments about MacDonalds, on the other hand, are arguably rule violations. They attack the individual rather than the argument and serve no purpose in a rational discussion.

I've split out the two posts posted after mine because they ignored the request to avoid continuing to derail the thread. Those posts have been placed into storage pending any need for them to be moved to another thread in an appropriate forum.
