The other day, a friend sent me an e-mail containing nothing but this rather odd looking link: 'XXX Church". Knowing my friend's wonderfully warped sense of humour, I immediately I thought it was just some kind of really weird sick joke, then I opened it, and I still think it's some kind of really weird sick joke. Only for the two pastors who have created it, it would seem it's not.
Basically it's an one line support group for people who are supposedly desperately trying to break the "soul destroying habit" of viewing pornography on the net. That's right, somehow they seem to think that it's their business to poke their pious noses into everyone else's business--the porn that some consenting adults, may choose to enjoy in the privacy of your own homes. Well, I don't really have a problem at all with the XXX church's view on that. That's their business. "Porn Sucks" is just one the slogans plastered across the t-shirts being offered for sale by the XXX Church. In fact, in their effort to be " ..hip, relevant, irreverent, honest, fun and designed for people just like you" they use a whole range of dirty double takes on traditional Christian phrases. They have their "missionary position" stating what they're all about, and their "Porn Sunday" where they gather together and pray for all the poor sinners who are "drowning in porn". Again, I don't have problem with it. They also offer free software that tracks your porn consumption patterns and reports them to your "designated accountability partner." Well, that sure sounds damned kinky to me! Imagine it, "I've been notified that you've been perving at porm again. Now, bend over so I can spank you, you naughty slut, you!" Still, no problem. I strongly believe that, so long as it's not harming anyone, everyone has the right to choose his or her own lifestyle. So what if the overly self-righteous XXX congregation objects to porn? Big deal if they think they're actually doing a public service? If it makes these pious preachers feel good about themselves, who really cares? Certainly not me! Well, I think I could have dealt with them a whole lot easier, and even have had a bit of a snigger reading such lines as "Jesus loves you, but Jesus hates porn", if it hadn't been for the squeaky voiced, Porno Pete, the Sesame Street look like alike puppet who tells kids in a public announcement: "I’m here today to talk to you about pornography. Have you gone into your daddy’s closet and found a bunch of magazines with naked mommies in them? Did this make you feel yucky inside?” While, in another he asks kids in a more hushed tone, "Have you ever seen Daddy with his pants down while he was looking at ... ", I'll spare the the rest. Well, let me tell you, listening to Porn Pete sure as "Jesus hates porn" made me "feel yucky inside"! Yea, watch it and vomite! I'm incensed! What makes theses people think that their spruiking about the evils of 'naked mommies" and masturbation to kids is somehow going to made the world a better place? How dare they, these supposed good Christians, use and abuse children like this in their crusade against pornography!!! I don't believe for one millisecond that kids should be exposed to pornography—no porn—no way! I also believe that any caring, sane and sensible parent knows and understands exactly what their kids should or shouldn't be viewing. But wait, maybe I'm just confused about this campaign? Can it really be aimed at minors? I mean, what kind of people would knowingly fill young and vulnerable minds with ideas that sex and nudity are somehow dirty and nasty? What sane adults would create a character like the sly and sleazy Porno Pete to some how influence adults through their kids? Well, with the catch phrase, "Tell mommy and daddy, no porn!" I'll leave you to decide. |

It's a 'public announcement", that like most of today's advertising uses children as its catalyst.
While they may proclaim it's aimed at adults, clearly this cutesy puppet with the squeaky voice is designed to appeal to kids. Therefore, I think it's, at best, tacky and tasteless. |

Guilt Marketing.
![]() Personally, I don't care who looks at what as long as it's not involving children or non-consenting adults. Heck, if you type in a Google search for "people having sex with goats on fire" you'd probably have to specify what sort of goat. (Can't take credit for that one - heard it elsewhere.) Control of sex and sexual impulse is a big focus of the various churches and world religions. Evidently it's a nasty, dirty thing right up until the consumation of two virgins get married - then it's supposed to be a magical, spiritual and physical bonding for both. And probably lasts all of five minutes, if they're lucky. ![]() I'm envisioning a tee shirt with huge font on the front that says "Porn Sucks". On the back, a pix of either a male or female looking upwards from a kneeling position and font that says "In A Good Way". Anybody wanna work on it in PhotoChop? Come on, you know you want to. |

amaradulcis_nyx is right, it's guilt marketing. They know you don't wan't kids looking at porn, so targeting kids is their not-so-subtle way of targeting you.
The funny thing is several of its pages are inaccessible on the computer my wife and kids use because of the porn filter I have in place. ![]() |

Just as the internet is a free for all when it comes to porn, it is still a choice to visit any website. If one doesn't visit xxxchurch.com, then there is no way that thier pious little noses can get close to their business. As far as the Pete porn thing, the one thing you fail to mention is that it was produced and paid for by a Porn Director named "Jimmy D". Strange bedfellows, I agree, but don't just point your fingers at, "those supposed good christians" on this one. In other words, there may be just a little more to the story. Peace |

Hello, Maxxman.
![]() And Jimmy? Oh, yea, I'd forgot all about him--two preachers, collaborating with porn king to create skin crawlingly offensive "public announcements"? It's repulsive! My problem, and it's a huge big red hot button with me, is kids being used or associated in any way with pornography. I just don’t think it's right. But of course that's just my opinion, obviously the XXX churches doesn't concur with me. |

Oh my God, they showed this fat man wrapped in a towel bearing the words above: RON JEREMY UNCOVERED.
That's just not right. |
