Goliath,

I am not an xian; I am a Christian.

xian is a legitimate abbreviation for Christian. I shall continue to use it whether you like it or not.

Sincerely,

Goliath, of course you may use whichever term you like. It remains my opinion that your tone and your addressing me as 'xian' in the statement I quoted was disrespectful.

I don't know whether you intended to be disrespectful in that post. Maybe, maybe not. The only way I would know is if you told me.

As I said, xian is a legitimate, neutral abbreviation for Christian, whence no disrespect was intended.

Sincerely,

Goliath

That may all well be so.
But the question is, do you want to be productive ?

Let's turn it around: imagine you're on some Christian board, and someone blazes at you,
All atheists are immoral ! Don't you dare try pretending otherwise, Atheist !

Now, if your user name happens to be anything other than "Atheist", you're not likely to feel that you really want to talk to the person in question; you're more likely to feel that that person simply has you pegged as a Member Of The Enemy.
Is anything that that person says likely to convince you ?
Not half.

That's why a modiucm of courtesy is more than advisable; that's why addressing HelenM by her user name rather than by a label is far more likely to be productive in the long run.
And this board does theoretically exist for atheists to talk to each other and to talk to believers.

If an atheist-only board is wanted, there's always GodlessHeathens.org.

Your comparison might have been valid if I had stated that "all xians are immoral." Since I have said no such thing, your argument fails.

Hmmmm...that's not a half bad idea.

*shrug*
You've missed the point. It was an analogy.
But the point is,
Do you want to be productive or not ?
Up to you.
Personally, I don't give a damn whichever way you decide; but if you want to be non-productive, then you should be aware of what you're doing, or not doing.

Of course I do. If I didn't, I wouldn't be posting here in the first place.

Now, where did I claim that all xians are immoral?

Sincerely,

Goliath

Then be productive.

oh, *yawn*
Silly games time already, huh ?
Sometimes I really wonder, sometimes I couldn't give a stuff.
Play your silly game to your heart's content; it doesn't accomplish anything, but then, you know that already.

If this is a "silly game" to you, then why did you start by making the outlandish claim that I said "all xians are immoral!"?

This certainly isn't a "game" to me. I'm attempting to have an intelligent conversation, here.

Sincerely,

Goliath
