			Joseph, I would suggest reading the standard popular text on the subject: The Bible Unearthed  (or via: amazon.co.uk) by Finkelstein and Silberman; presumably with names like that they are not anti-Israel.

			It's my opinion/hope that rational analysis of the Bible and History is the next step in Judaism. 
		
		
		
		
		
		
		
	This isn't discarding anything, but building on it. My rabbi has said that the Bible is incomprehensible without the Talmud. Biblical/Jewish studies includes the Talmud and offers a framework to form rational views of what happened in the past.  |
