The simplest argument against the infiniteness of god is the non-existence of god. If god doesn't exist, s/he can't be eternal.

Looks to me like it's a question of definition.

I don't see that at all - the point of the quote is the reference to two possible states of eternity, the "timeless state" - and eternity as infinite duration or "infinite time"...
What does that have to do with your claim that at one point the universe was nothing; i.e., nonexistent?

And it is impossible to deny that this sleeping potion works because of its dormative virtue. (Apologies to Moliere.)

I'm not sure what you mean, I've made no claims in that regard- and the quote only mentions this....
Quote:
events, if any, occurred during the quantity of time preceding the existence of the universe.
But It is generally assumed that the universe had a beginning, the evidence points to it.

Of course there is. There have been many studies suggesting the universe is changing and had a beginning.

Let's all please try to avoid derailing this thread into something I'm going to have to ship over to S&S (Discussion of the Big Bang/Nature of the universe). The OP deals with a question regarding whether or not "God" is eternal.

There is certainly a lot of scientific inquiry into the origins of the universe as we know it, but I'm not aware of any definite conclusions that have been made other than that the universe as we know it appears to have been expanding for approximately 15 billion years.

Having said that, Yahwists don't get to claim that "The universe began with a rapid expansion from a singularity approximately 15 billion years ago" means

Sorry. The evidence clearly shows all that to be hogwash.
