				 | Did I make a good choice?

After much thinking, I decided to purchase this bible. Was it a good choice? Edit- The link in this post will now also support the Internet Infidels. |

The translation is one of the best for accuracy (though it does make some bad concessions for readability, hiding numerous terms such as El-Shaddai, which does make it into the footnotes; "son of man" becomes "mortal"). Just note Gen 1:1 as well as the fact that "virgin" is relegated to a footnote in Isa 7:14. (NIV, though not too bad to read, goes specifically for the xian reading without footnoting the problems. Check the two verses already mentioned.) spin Edited the link in the quote so it would also support II. | |

I have that exact Bible. Definetly was worth the $45 I paid for it. I purchased it even though I already had a regular copy of the NRSV. It was recommended by a friend who is quite serious about his Christianity, and is also quite educated, graduating from a Presbyterian college. I actually find the NRSV easier to read than the NIV, and the commentators show a very neutral, scholarly tone.
