Let's not start spreading false rumors. Ehrman is a scholar in a southern university. If he is an atheist, he keeps it very well hidden.

Perhaps I misunderstand you. One way to find things out is to ask.

All sorts of odd people have been to Wheaton -- although I don't quite understand how --, so it really is no guide.

But it seems that no-one knows. No problem.

All the best,

Roger Pearse

Can Roger name a Jew who has studied at Wheaton College?

I'm pretty sure he's a Christian of some sort.

While he's generally seen as a big star in Textual Criticism nowadays (a big fish in a very small and shallow pond?), myself, I see him as nothing more than just another Egyptian zombie sleep-walker... and that's putting it charitably.

The alternative view is that he's a con-artist. Because his and his pals' Alexandrian/Egyptian text of the NT is a Fraud.

Regards,

Yuri.

Here is Ehrman's CV. You guys are right and I was wrong, it doesn't look like he is an atheist.

After reading his _Jesus: Apocalyptic Prophet of the New Millennium_, I could understand how someone might have mistaken Ehrman for either a Jew or an atheist. His historical Jesus is a failed apocalyptic prophet, very similar to the Jesus of Albert Schweitzer....hardly fodder for godhood.
