Mae West's classic reply: "When I'm good I'm very very good, but when I'm bad I'm better."
As for your OP, Carrie, my answer is, "*****". I feel no obligation to submit myself to your qy nor to your nor anyone's criteria.

Cool

I proudly consider myself an evil, completely amoral person. If I play a roleplaying game, I always chose evil as my alignment. I also feel more empathy for criminals than for their victims. Often I laugh or am pleased when I read/hear about tragedies ( for example I was very happy about September 11th, but then again I never liked Americans in general ). I have huge respect for Hitler, Stalin, etc who managed to get from the bottom of society to the very top.

Ohh! Aren't you so cool and non-conformist. Maybe one day you'll grow to be like the people you most admire. Maybe one day you'll just grow up.

I consider myself basicly good - I try to live by the code "Do no harm," and mostly succeed. However, isn't there a certain futility to asking this question? I mean, aside from a few funny fundies who believe in (literal) self-flagellation, and those out to shock, who is going to say, "no, I'm bad." Isn't it part of basic human nature to try to have a good opinion of yourself, espescially when you really shouldn't?

For this discussion to mean something, we need a definition of good and bad. Carrie, what do you mean by a 'good person' or 'bad person'?

Which is why society has stun guns and padded cells.

I try to follow The Boy Scout Law: A scout is trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, kind, courteous, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean and reverent**.

Trustworthy - you can count on me...

Loyal - to a fault, married 27 years, never strayed; employed for all buy 3 days of that 27 years...

Helpful - wadda ya need me to do?...

Friendly - indeed, my friends....

Kind - I pet the dogs this morning, kissed the wife and hugged the daughter; I give to charity and help my neighbors in need. Kind of kind I guess....

Courteous - yes, thank you very much, now if you'll excuse me...

Obedient - Well, 6 out of 7 ain't bad...

Cheerful - depressed and sullen, well, 6 out of 8 still ain't too bad...

Thrifty - waste not, want not (in theory only), 6 out of 9 is generally a failing grade...

Brave - sure enough, don't back down from challenges or new experiences-- only at 70% now, marginally passing....

Clean - spotless.... mostly...

Reverent - Respectful and solemn when in someone else's home or place of worship, but if they are in my place or face, look out.

**Although some may think the Boy Scouts a bad organization because they don't allow atheists to be members, I do think there are some things of value in the things they teach such as The Scout Law. The scout motto is "On my honor, I promise to do my duty to god and my country and to obey the Scout Law; to help other people at all times; to keep myself physically strong, mentally awake, and morally straight." The mentally awake part precluded me following their definition of morally straight and doing my duty to god, so my revised motto is "On my honor, I promise to do my duty to my country and my community, helping others at all times; to keep myself physically strong and mentally alert; to resist fundamentalist attempts to make this country into a theocracy or to impose our worldview on other cultures."

So, am I a bad person or a good person? Yes.

Man (meaning mankind - perhaps I should use more gender-neutral language?) has been asking this question since the dawn of time (practically). I wonder when we're going to stop asking it? Not because it's not a worthy question, but because it has been answered so many times and in so many ways.

I think about this a lot. My license plate is JKL HYDE.

This reminds me of the cliche of the little angel and little demon sitting on our shoulders and whispering into our ears. I know I have an affirmative voice and a critical voice in my head. That's right, I hear voices in my head. Yikes.

Maybe this stems from my former fundy-Chistian background, but I see myself as mostly a bad person! I'm not sure if that's true or not though. I may elaborate later. We're going on vacation to Cape Cod pretty soon, so I'll be out for a week.
depends on your ethical system. I have many quirks and philisophies one might consider immoral. I do not think I am.

I am an atheist scout, btw. my leaders didnt do much about it.
