Incidentally, haverbob, what's your take on the Joshua myth that he got god to make the sun stand still?

Do you feel the Qu'ran contains more absurdities than the bible?
The Joshua story was supposed to be a one time event and was not supposed to give reason to a common re-occurence such as shooting stars.

Please explain this one-time event to me. What actually happened? Or are you going to retreat into saeed's "God moves in mysterious ways his wonders to perform?"

Why didn't I think of that.

Now if we just fit green cheese into that somewhere.

It doesn't have a naturalistic explanation. That is why it's considered a miracle. A one time event. Would you like me to give you a naturalistic explanation of Mosses parting the Read Sea? Of course I can't, that's why it's considered a miracle. Why bother to ask this question?

Now, I'm going to try to be as clear as possible is displaying the difference between the miracles you reference and the explanation that shootings stars chasing away the Jinn. In the former, you have a one time event that is seen as miraculous. In the latter, you have a faulty explanation or reason for a common observable experience (shooting stars). Both the Quran and the Bible do a pretty poor job with creation. While there is room for the Bible to be read figuratively, there is no room for this in the Quran. The Bible was written by many authors who are said to be inspired by God. The Quran is supposed to be the direct word of God word for word, written by only one author and taken from direct words spoken through Muhammad by Allah. Therefore, the Quran finds itself in a more difficult situation. If there are any errors, even just one, the entire Quran becomes invalid, unlike the case with the Bible. So here, we have an explanation for shooting stars that clearly displays a complete lack of understanding of the nature of these things. To make matters worse, it;s the same misunderstanding that everyone had about these things way back when. Everybody from all schools of thought thought these things were stars that shoot across the sky. Muhammad clearly confirms this misunderstanding when he explains the reason why these stars are fired across the sky. Allah cannot err about his creation. Therefore, the entire Quran cannot be the direct word of Allah word for word or else we have to admit that Allah does not understand the nature of an aspect of his creation. and, this misunderstanding just so happens to be the same exact misunderstanding that everyone else had about these things back then.

Well obviously the moon didn't fit back together perfectly so they used green cheese to fill the cracks. There you go.

My focus wasn't so much whether miracles have happened or not, that is a matter of belief. My focus was on the idea that the moon landing in 1969 was prophesized in the Quran. And whether Neil Armstrong heard the call to prayers on the moon or not. It's about modern day lunacy, just like some fools actually did believe that this was a picture of the virgin Mary on that grilled cheese sandwich. That's the funniest one of all. The owner claimed to have made at least $70,000 from the luck this thing brought him, and then sold it for $28,000 on Ebay. Hmmmm.....21+10=11. Go figure. :rolling:

Sorry, but you are not very clear.

Don't you think that the belief that the sun moves around the earth is also a faulty explanation?

Again, I insist that your god is far more powerful than saeed's god. Your god can make the sun stand still when it isn't even moving in the first place.

Allah can't possibly match that.

The Sun standing still was the reported observation. The idea that the sun moves was never said to have been directly uttered by God. However, the fact that stars are shot seems to have been uttered directly by God according to the Quran.

Is it any sillier than those who tell us that psalm 91 predicted the gulf war? Of course, that did not become clear to christians until after the war.
