On the subject of John of Patmos' ravings, has anybody else heard of the fundy claim that "Chernobyl" is Russian for "wormwood"? They claim that the prophecy in Revelation about a big fireball, called wormwood, was all about the Chernobyl reactor.
I asked a Russian coworker, and he said it isn't even a Russian word, that it's Ukrainian, and he doesn't think it means wormwood. I can't remember the translation he gave, I think it was more of a crop plant, IIRC. Googling on the subject only brings up the fundy websites that claim that chernobyl=wormwood. |

She said, Mo's do not accept Rev, you said, it is about the only thing of the Bible they do. I see the facts, acc to the official website, as being LDSers accept the whole Bible. Instead of taking away anything, they accept the Bible, plus their own book as well. Is that not true? What parts of the Bible do you think LDSers reject? Please don't shout. |

I'm not even going to touch this Mormon controversy, but can I just educate some of you people on one thing that really annoys me. I'm sorry to be pedantic, but I can't help it, it's just my nature. The name of the book is "revelation" *singular*, not "revelations" *plural*. The title comes from the first word in the book, apokalupsis, which is singular.

Another one that annoys me is the chronic misspelling of crucifixion. Unless you are denying its value and calling it "crucifiction" on purpose, of course! |
