What then do you think of Dominic Kataribabo [Ugandan dooms day cult massacres] he trained as a student priest in Los Angeles. Also Charles Watson [religious cult, Manson family] who after being convicted of murder has now converted to christianity and retrained as a minister of religion.I'm not saying religion warps everyones mind. JUST99% OF THEM :devil3:

Dogs

I might even add you have more of an obsession with religion than most people who have a religion. So we take examples of lunatics who use an ideology to justify their acts. So what Charles Watson a lunatic became a Christian and Pol Pot remained an Atheist, so what. What about Stalin? He did not believe in any God, so he hired a Vet Pavlov to conduct experiments on how man could best serve the states. If a dog could be made to slaver at will, so could a human. Does this mean every atheist goes around making dogs slaver. As an extreme obsession about religion, politics to the point of fanatisism can be said to be a mental problem, but that can be an obsession too about what another is believing. |

:rolling: :rolling: Sorry gurdur, whichphilosophy, but I just KNEW that last one would get you going. I don't really think all religious people are screwed in the head. But I like to stir it sometimes just to see what people will say,and I learn from you more well informed people at the same time.

Disorders
Quote:
However there are so many divisions within the psychiatric profession that there for sure some fanatics on the edge to beat that drum. As for scientific proof, nothing materialises. The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fourth Edition 1994 did mention what it loosely described as Religious and Spiritual Disorders but nothing to say religion itself will cause disorders. This manual also contains excess Caffine intake, excess coffee intake, sibling rivalry, Attention Deficit Disorder (very contraversial) and really can't be taken that series. The disorders are voted in and voted out. Homosexuality was once classed as a mental disorder but withdrawn a few years ago during a meeting of the APA with demonstrations for several days outside its offices. It was amended with homosexuality only being a disorder if he person thinks it is a problem. I did see some anecdotal studies such as a 19 year old man was on a camping trip and thought he heard voices in the mountains and saw hell. Though he mentioned hell, this was nothing to do with religion but to do with hallucination. Regards, Good luck. |
