LOL.
I quoted you exactly.
I still look forward to your explanation of just why the UK is far more secular than the USA despite lacking church/state seperation.

Secondly are you contending that such religions do not teach that god trumps the rule of man?

Starboy
What I'm contending is:

1) You didn't get your facts straight

2) You're building up an inflated picture of Xians

3) You're making a mountain out of a molehill in this thread.

The entire message given to you by many here on this thread is that you do not need to be routinely uncivil to theists on this board --- that you can be effective in argument without being routinely uncivil.

How about we simply stick with that last bit ?

Hello? I said "derived". As for why England and a good bit of Europe is more secular, I have no idea. I don't live there. Not my question. It's your question.

There are a growing number of people in the US that do want church and state to be united. This is not Europe. Might be nice if it was, but it ain't.

Tsk. I would have thought you'ld be more interested in the big picture regarding theism and the facts.

But anyway: let's stick with the point.
Routine uncivility is just so unproductive, isn't it ?

Agreed, why do you say that I am routinely uncivil? Unless you mean speaking my mind is being uncivil, well then guilty as charged. But if you don't want to know what I think, don't read my posts.

Naaaaawwwww, that's not the point, is it ?
SecWeb has certain standards. GRD has certain standards.

Sooo: do you agree routine uncivility is unproductive ? And against the standards here ?
Regardless of whatever you mean by "speaking your mind".

Yes, in Holland we say you catch more flies with honey than you do with vinager....

I know it can be really hard, I grew up an atheist in one of the few fundy towns in Holland and I can tell you they have a seige mentality over there. They'd throw rotten eggs and tomatoes at our schools, shout names, and tell us we'd go to hell but you gotta control that anger, Starboy, it's all part of the evil atheist complot(tm): pretend we're all nice good people with a high moral standard

Hey, if theists didn’t come here preaching on the forums where they’re allowed (all of them other than the Secular Community Forums), what would we be doing? We’d be bored out of our minds. In fact, theists’ preaching at me is one of the reasons I have a kick out of visiting Christianforums. I say they’re welcome to preach, and I’ll reciprocate by tearing their arguments to shreds, in a civil manner.

Mere theism doesn’t irritate me; it’s political theism, where politics and religion mix, that draws my ire, and that’s what I’d like to eradicate. Christianity and Islam are evil religions because of their being up to the neck up with politics (and because of the inhuman doctrine of eternal hell, but that’s a different matter).

It would help in the pretence that us atheists are just so much more rational than those nasty theists.
