Yeah. Now, plutonium would have been interesting.

So, God's powers are limited to doing things that his followers are familiar with and can comprehend?
Check and mate. Nice.

Did you even read Malachi151's post? That's what the whole point was, that god should have done something more impressive than write them in the exact manner that Moses would have done if god didn't exist! I suppose if Moses got the 10 commandments today, "god" would have wrote them in ink pen on stationery that said "From the desk of Moses" and he would have "miraculously" wrote it in Moses' handwriting.:notworthy

I guess that's god's standard modus operandi, though. He creates the universe 6000 years ago, then gives the light from galaxies billions of light years away a "head start" so the "lost" will think the universe was created billions of years ago. He writes a book, then makes sure it has contradictions in it so the "lost" will think it was just written by people. He even makes sure that when you pray to him, the odds of that prayer coming true are exactly the same as if you didn't pray to him in the first place. In fact the whole world happens to work exactly the same as it would have if he didn't exist! He's pretty clever.

Maybe 25 years ago. These days, it would have been laser printed. What font would god choose?

Really Smith had the right idea, with his gold plates. Stone is so...archaic. Too bad he couldn't produce them in a decent Tolkienian writing that could be eventually crudely translated, or Mormonism would be the leading religion today.

Imagine if Tolkien had put his efforts into what L. Ron Hubbard did, and in addition created the base storyline on some gold/plat/titanium plates in Neo-Elvish...rich background, good plotlines, and evidence as well!

You do know that there are 2 versions of the 10 commandments? Exodus 20 lists the popular version. These were written to tablets and later broken by Moses in a fit of rage. He climbed the mountain again to get another set and God issued him with 10 different commandments (Exodus 34:27-29) which were written to stone.

I think that the current technology was used because it was created by humans, not some god. Think about it, the only material "proof" of god has been crafted by humans. Ten C's, bible...etc.

What difference would it make? Lets say God did write the law in platinum. This discussion would still come up, but instead of asking why God didn't write it in platinum, we'd be asking why He didn't write it in 24k gold, or diamond. There is no satisfying people on this board, so who really cares what material God wrote it in. I'd also imagine that God didn't write it in a flashy material for a reason. What were the Israelites doing at the time Moses went up Mount Sinai? Building a calf of gold to worship. It was flashy, and pagan. God probably didn't want to further increase their greed. Would the Israelites really care what was written on the stones if they were pure gold? I doubt it, they'd rather focus on the gold. Stone is simple, humble, and doesn't provoke material desire.

God works through humans. Big deal. And God is the one that actually carved the stone. The 10 Commandments don't sound like laws that people of the time would really come up with. Why would the Israelites, who were practicing paganism and idolatry, then create a law against it? Why would they create a law against coveting? Do you think the Israelites didn't actually covet other people's things? The Israelites were continually breaking the laws you allegedly claim they would have written instead of God. Those laws challenge human nature, and they don't exactly sound like the work of sinful humans.
