Whether the basis is Jeshua from Nazareth or Joshua the Nazarite, whoever he was made little stir at the time. That "Negative Evidence Principle" mentioned.
If it were that big a deal (as portrayed in the scriptures) then we would surely expect to find non-religious reports of that big deal. When we look for such reports: nil. From the most reliable quotations of Yeshua (like the Thomas Gospels) we can deduce that he was an end-of-the-world preacher. "The End Is Coming! Right Soon! Give away all you have! Follow ME! THE END IS NEAR! Some of you who hear my words will SEE THE END!" (after Ehrman) You know the guy. |
