Wow. Looks like all those scientists will be stepping down from their posts quite soon given we've answered all the questions. :Cheeky:

What I would ask of Christians is, with all this evidence in front of you. And not a shred of evidence of any god needed to accomplish all this.
Why do you believe in God? And why?
It's possible that people choose to believe (whatever it is they believe) for reasons other than needing an explanation for the nature of things. IOW, people believe because it does something for them now, in the present, like provide context for relationships, or personal meaning or a structure for building a life. Or for ethics/morality reasons. Or for aesthetic reasons -- that is, a universe with a god being seems more interesting, or aesthetically pleasing, to them than does one without. Or because they believe despite science answering the "how" questions, a god concept still might answer the "why" questions -- or rather the questions of utlimate concern, as the theologian Paul Tillich would have said. Or something like that. There could be lots of reasons.

The purpose of Christianity is not to "explain" things, but to free us from self involvement and make us loving, free authentic people. I don't think that's a scientific question.

The gospel is an existential event. It has nothing to do with the validity of emperical statements.

Your question is like asking, why read Hamlet when science can explain depression with reference to endorphins? You're talking apples and oranges.

Is this true? I believe there's always the possibility of mutation even with replication.

Christian believe because faith in the absence of evidence is the highest virtue. Doubting Thomas used his brain and the critical faculties endowed by his creator and was practically admonished for it.

Evolution and replication belongs in a different forum. Please take your comments there.
