Does that include most atheists on this board?

Well Helen I can not make an acurate assessment unless I jump in and have a serious discussion with an atheist on this board and Soul I. has volunteered for the task, along with Weltall. Also Helen it has taken me this long to get the courage up to even discuss these issues again. Maybe you would understand this part.

Maybe

I can't tell the difference between courage and foolhardiness any more. Maybe it's in the eye of the beholder

That was wise of you not to prejudge the knowledge of people here. I've seen evidence of in-depth knowledge from some.

There is no doubt that intelligent life is here.

I agree, although, being nit-picky, I do make a distinction between intelligence and knowledge.

I think this is fair as someone with alot of knowlege cluttering around in their brain may not always exhibit intelligence. Is this where you were going?

Helen,

Let me ask you a question? What do you think about extending to people you have come to know and have met over the internet your home for the means of meeting and entertaining and having conversation and enjoying a meal with? See anything wrong with that? For a Christian to open their home to people in like fashion?

Of course the people I meet over the Internet are real people and I love opportunities to meet them in person also. I did attend an IIDB get-together in Chicago at the beginning of this year and met a few other posters from here. On the whole, I'd rather be with someone face to face than talking with them over the phone or on the Internet.

I would probably want to meet someone on 'neutral' territory first before inviting them home and I definitely would ask my husband if it was ok with him before inviting anyone over. My husband is an atheist so he doesn't invite people over for 'Christian' reasons but he generally is willing to have people over if I want to invite them.

I'm trying to think if I've met other people face to face that I first met on the Internet: here's one - about three years ago I 'met' a Christian over the Internet who lives about an hour from me. He drove here with his family to attend church with me one day and we had lunch together afterwards. That was fun.

Well Helen,

My family knew that I have invited some people from another website to dinner.. Matter of fact I was on this website for about 13 mos. before shananaggins happened and I was banned...long story. But these people I have prayed for and did pray for. My family over dinner prayed for a specific person on this website. I wrote to Jews for Jesus and made a donation and asked if that they would pray for another individual. They kind of adopted this person as a Jew. All because of the out pouring of my heart to the head of the organization. This person also called me when I went through all this junk back in August but they really were of no help to me. I did invite this person, along with three other people and their families. My family is Christian. They are not. I said kind of put up or shut up sort of thing with my invite. Would cook fried chicken meal southern style. You do not even have to talk about God. God comes through a Christian's life. There is something irresistable about an authentic Christian that goes without saying. Do you know that GOD Helen is so great He can cross this barrier of time and reach out to you as I type, even though you have not yet seen my words. Time is nothing for Him.

Anyway I did invite these people and they turned *me* down. I am the Christian here...do you understand Helen?
