Default Intuiting one's own religion..?

I notice that most people are exploring pre-existing religions. Does anyone have an idea how one might go about using intuition to create one's own religion? How would one describe this to make it sound credible? What kind of language would work well to boost one's credibility, or at least get other people to leave you to your own devices. Especially the government.

Using whatever method one concocts for intuiting religious directives or realities, would it be sufficient to record the tenets of one's religion and publish them, subsequently making a solemn affirmation that one believes wholeheartedly in said tenets? Would this be respected as a "religious belief" and protected under laws for human rights?

If you mean 'can you get tax exempt status' or get religious exemptions from proscriptions on psychotropic drugs, the answer is probably no.

I agree.. if you intuit a religion and then try to get these things, it will never succeed. However... if you act as a prophet for a large group of people (and I assure you that if you work hard enough and long enough, you will collect such followers!!), perhaps you would be able to gain these exemptions for them. If you really gain a lot of followers, either you or your successor in the 'church' may be able to achieve these things.

This makes intuition a mechanism for leveraging human rights protections for religious belief to supplant or subvert national law. Of course, if your religion requires exemptions from too many things, maybe the government will do something... or maybe people will just think you're so out to lunch they can never join you.

I'm wondering right now whether I could declare my flat a church of the FSM and avoid council tax.

Or at least get some FSM publicity out of trying it on.

Hmmm. Not quite Non-Abrahamic material. Let's try GRD.

Isn't this OP about two different things. I would want to join a decent religion but have not found anything suitable.

so I would need to make up my own then but not for the pupose the OP sugests. Taxexempt and such. But I seems to be alone in this. Make Taxes your religion.

If I had the creative power to do it then I most likely would. I am not talented enough.

Well you could get James Randi to train you.

BigJim, yes very funny, I met Randi two times here in Sweden. fun guy but me thinking about the OP from a serious perspective. Call it a life philosophy if religion is a tabu word.
