Default Criminalizing Christianity?

I found this article through our friends at RaptureReady: http://worldnetdaily.com/news/articl...TICLE_ID=47659

You would have to subscribe to Whistle Blower Magazine to read the entire "Criminalizing Christianity" article, this is kind of an emotional abstract.

Quote:
"This has become more than a seasonal witch hunt by the ACLU," said WND Editor and founder Joseph Farah. "The attacks on Christianity in America are alarming. We are witnessing more than religious bigotry now. We are entering the early stages of what could become persecution and outright criminalization of Christianity if it is not exposed and fought vigorously by all freedom-loving people."
Quote:
"It's chillling," said WND Managing Editor David Kupelian. "Our nation's founding religion is being attacked as never before. The Constitution is being twisted out of all recognition, history is being rewritten, and Christian teachings and observances are being shut out and shut up. And while we sit around watching this helplessly, we're bequeathing a different America to our children. It's time for people to wake up."
Just another emotional appeal to the "christian persecution myth" to rally the troops. I think it would be an eye opening experience for a lot of christians to visit our Secular Lifestyle board, and see how a lot of us are either living in complete secretiveness, are practically disowned by our family members, and attacked by society. Seeing middle-aged-white-christian-america throw down the persecution card makes my blood run red hot.

They're trying to ramp up sentiment in preparation for persecution of non-Christians. Not to violate Godwin on the first reply, but...an ambitious group drumming up public support for oppression by claiming that the majority is the victim of a conspiracy by a small, harmless group is an old tactic. Not surprising at all that it's being used now.

Good grief, these people need to grow up! Who on earth do they think is persecuting them? Is it our nearly 100% Christian politicians? Or could it be their fellow, mostly Christian Americans? :banghead:

What you have to realize is that they do not consider 90% of America to be Christian. To them the liberals, moderates and Catholics are the same as non-believers if not worse.

Except when it suits their ad populum arguments.

It's true, our politicians are mostly christian or at least pretend to be so they can be thought of as "good people". Atheists see their non-belief as persecution by the current religious government, and christians see their beliefs as being under attack by the "secular world". Maybe it's evening out?

Once anyone's belief or non-belief is "criminalized" we're all screwed.

Agreed.

Although the legal pettiness of groups like the ACLU give these Christian persecution groups the fuel they need to rally the fundy faithful. Secular watchdog groups need to focus on the important challenges to the first amendment, things like Roy Moore. They should stop filing frivilous lawsuits against public schools whose choirs might perform a Christian hymn around Christmas.

Hi Cydonia, it's great to see another graphic designer on here!

I disagree about it evening out. There are far too many of "them" and far too few of "us" for things to be considered even in any way.

I totally agree! Unfortunately a lot of these fundamentalist types have a very strange definition of what "criminalized" means.
