I once heard a Pentacostal say that the reason they speak in tongues is because they speak in the language of heavenly angels that God can understand. Demons don't speak that language, so they can't intercept the prayers and then work in the shadows to keep them from being answered. :devil2:

I was pentacostal for quite awhile, and that is the very place I got that idea. I am a pretty honest person, however, and many, many, many times I prayed for tongues. I begged for them. The whole church prayed and asked god to send it down on me. Why did god send the gift to so many others and not to me? I didn't have enough faith. I didn't please god the way they did. Oh well, I guess I'll just not say my prayers out loud.

Morons. The more I learn about humanity, the dumber humans become. I'm sorry, but if you believe in demons in this day and age, I am forced to conclude that you are fucking retarded.
You know, I don't know whether to laugh or cry whenever I hear anyone speak in a serious manner about demons. My mother actually believes in them, and I cannot for the life of me see how or why this is possible, as she's an intelligent person. It seems like insanity to me, but she's otherwise sane.

See? You were doing it all wrong. I'm not even Christian and I never had any problem speaking in tongues

I find that all you have to do is make up jibberish that sounds like a language. The only time I was dragged into a pentacostal church, I came pretty prepared; threw together a few phrases in Japanese and said them backwards and with a heavy accent. I got more than a few "amen" and "praise Jesus!" calls from a few of the people around me. (so it mystified them all the more why I never came back )

Well ya know that there are lesser demons who dwell in the ether of the upper atmosphere. Whenever someone sneezes their breath…?spiritus? in Latin…is forced out of their body and these lesser demons will try to snatch it before it returns to it’s owner. There is empirical proof of this because sometimes people who sneeze will then sicken and die because they no longer have a spirit to keep them going.
You can prevent this from happening by blessing the person who has been rendered spiritless. This stuns the lesser demons and allows the spirit to return unmolested…but only if you are quick enough.

And as asinine as this story sounds it is the actual reason people today still say “G’ bless you? when someone sneezes, though most are unaware of the origins of the custom.

I did the same in high school, when a friend invited me to his Assembly of God church. I gabbled a bit in Elvish, then some gibberish that sounded like a language and shouted "Khaire Baal-Aton! Khaire Baal-Aton!" then of course "Cthulhu fthagn!"

I once met a newspaper cartoonist who went to Pentecostal churches, and when the rolling and babbling began, be began first in a low voice, then louder, and finally shouting, to make antireligious speeches in Russian, which he spoke fluently. (This was well before the big Russian immigration in the nineties.) It always amused him to shout "Religiye opiat narodnoii!" (Religion is the opium of the people! ) to shouts of Amen!

I heard that too, except I had thought that it was madness, not sickness, that you were trying to prevent. Something about your mind trying to escape through your nose. I was told this was also the origin of the phrase "lost his mind."

What... the... hell?

If demons were originally angels before they fell, it makes NO FUCKING SENSE WHATSOEVER for them not to understand the language of angels.

Demons do exist. They are also known as "Republicans" and "Democrats." Angels exist as well and are often referred to as "Libertarians."

(Sorry, couldn't resist. )
