This is something that I have never really asked people before and I am curious to see the answers.

I'm sorry if I have offended anyone with including or not including religions. I just chose as many groups and religions that I could think of on the spot.

Basically, any system of thought that puts made-up ideas in a position of unquestionable authority will lead to tragedy, violence, and destruction.

Historically? I'll have to go with xtianity.. they set a more clear precedent with the crusades, imo.

well, if you analyze the doctrines, then you have this order:

Judaism is the most violent
Islam second
Christianity third.

If you analyze the people and their actions, then:
Christians are the most violent
Muslims second.
Jews last (who arent violent at all really).

Quite the paradox that out of the "big three", the followers of the most pacifistic religion have been the most violent while the followers of the most barbaric/violent/intolerant religion have been the least violent.

please prove that statement as applicable to Indian/eastern religions, and as demonstrated over the last 4000 years in any scale comparable to that of what Christian, Muslims, and the atheist Chinese commies have done.

In-fact, id be willing to bet that in the last 200 years, the Chinese atheists have committed far more genocide than any Hindu/Indian/Sikh/Taoist/Buddhist.

The flaw in your assertion now laid open, I vote rabid totalitarianism via absolutism is the most violent. The big three Judeo-Christo-Islamo are foundationally (that is to say, their creed demands total obedience) absolutist and, therefore, more likely to lead to the violence we've seen throughout history.

I agree that eastern mysticism and even most modern neo-pagans and wiccans are "if it harm none, do what you will" foundationally and do not pose the same threat.
